
CrimeCon, the ultimate true crime event has arrived in London, UK last month, with two days of true-crime content, covering a wide range of psychology, victimology, and methodology techniques. The event also aims to help families keep unsolved cases in the public eye and assist police forces in uncovering new leads and evidence. Each year CrimeCon assists charity organisations and support groups in the work that they do, solving different cases and fighting crime. The UK national organisation Missing People has been part of this year’s true crime event, supporting missing people and their families through fundraising. With the help of supporters, Missing People has been able to help 1.521 families last year, providing vital emotional and practical support to people affected by a disappearance and to those thinking of going missing.



Journalist, investigative reporter and presenter – Raphael Rowe is best known for hosting the Netflix series “Inside The World’s Toughest Prisons”. The documentary shows life in 19 prisons around the world, including Mexico, Papua New Guinea, Ukraine or Romania. Raphael himself has been in a maximum security prison 12 years for crimes he did not commit. His life sentence and convictions for murder and robberies were overturned by the Court of Appeal in 2000. After his release, Rowe began a career as a journalist and reporter for BBC. Raphael’s autobiography “Notorios: Life With No Parole For A Crime I Did Not Commit” tells his fight for justice and for the positive changes of the prison systems throughout the world. During CrimeCon UK 2023 Raphael also hosted the “Second Chance” Podcast series.


In the early hours of the true-crime event we joined world-renowned forensic pathologist Dr. Richard Shepherd explaining some of the most complex cases of his career. Also author of Sunday Times bestseller “Unnatural Causes”, “The Seven Ages of Death” and the host of the CBS reality series “The Truth About My Murder”, Shepherd has performed roughly 23,000 autopsies in his time as a forensic pathologist, working on high-profile cases including 9/11 and the death of Princess Diana.

Forensic Psychologist Kerry Daynes is best known for her role as profiler on Discovery+ “Faking It Special: Tears Of A Crime” focusing on Ted Bundy and as the author of Sunday Times Best Selling book “The Dark Side of the Mind”. Daynes has over 25 years spent as one of the most sought-after professionals in the business. Her work has taken her from police interview rooms and the witness box to the cells of maximum-security prisons and wards of secure hospitals.


Open all day, Writers Bloc is a new CrimeCon section dedicated to true crime authors where you can find some of the newest releases, including the shortlist of the 2023 True Crime Awards.

One of the most anticipated exhibits was the Crime Solving Using Future Technologies Today: AR, VR, And AI The New DNA Of Investigations” with CrimeDoor content creator Erika Glass, Helpline Manager at The Cyber Helpline – Charlotte Hooper and CrimeDoor Chief of Staff Chris Morris with over 30 years in both media and technology.
CrimeDoor is a unique Augmented Reality (AR) based app delivering visually immersive True Crime experiences that “open the doors” to real crime scenes. When users enter these doors to the spatial web they are brought into virtual experiences that recreate the scenes detectives encountered when they originally arrived, as reported by PR Newswire.
Virtual and Augmented Reality experiences have been used in courtrooms by prosecutors and detectives for several years.



This year’s CrimeCon UK took place at the 4-star Leonardo Royal Hotel in London, near the medieval castle “Tower of London” and Sky Garden.
