The Bike & Boot Restaurant and Inn opened last July in Scarborough and it is described as a leisure hotel for the 21st century. It is very close to the center of the town and conveniently located right on the beach front, offering amazing room views. For this article we tested the Bareca, because we wanted something different than the standard food menu found in almost evey restaurant from Scarborough and we were also looking for a unique atmosphere. We had that and more as soon as we entered the new friendly and modern Bike & Boot Bareca. The interior designer Rachel McLane gave the property a brand new fresh look. “Renew, repurpose and replenish is an ethos at the heart of our work. I believe in avoiding sending things to landfill or bonfires whenever possible, and I am glad to say we have done our little bit with some of the bar and restaurant furniture at The Bike & Boot. This has also helped to reduce our carbon footprint in shipping in new products,” said Rachel for Boutique Hotelier.

The Bike & Boot Restaurant offers some Mediterranean clasics, pizza, pasta and grills, iced cocktails, coffees and smoothies. The lunch menu is served between 12pm – 2pm and you can have dinner between 5pm – 9pm. The Bar is opened from 12pm to 11pm. We tried the Smoked Chicken and Chargrilled Peppers pizza and I must admit, I was kind of disappointed, as unfortunately this one was not as expected. Luckily, the Bareca has other food options that you can choose from, such as the classic Caesar Salad with or without smoked chicken, the Smoked Salmon & King Prawn tagliatelle with shellfish sauce or the Rib-eye steak served with skin-on fries and onion rings. You can check out the full menu here.

What I love the most about Bike & Boot is that it offers many facilities for dog owners, surfers and bike riders. You have a room for your bike for free with every stay, and a dog grooming area complete with a professional bath and grooming table. Also dogs are very welcome inside the Bike & Boot restaurant.

The property was bought in January 2019 by Simon Kershaw and Simon Ratigan and rebranded into the new and unique 65-bedroom hotel. Prior to the Government’s lockdown announcement, the company bought the majority of the materials needed to finish the work. To protect the health and wellbeing of staff and guests during the coronavirus pandemic, Bike & Boot have implemented some extra precautions. These include contactless check-in and payments, minimised contact and increased hygiene measures. As part of its grand opening, Bike & Boot is running an exclusive promotion – £59 per room, per night. Just quote ‘MUCKOFF’ when booking online. The promotion ends on August 31 this year and can be used for stays in July, August and September, according to The Scarborough News.
